AWP starts under a small maintainer group with public decision-making: all spec changes land through the RFD process, discussion happens in GitHub, and releases are tagged with signed changelogs. The stated goal is to move stewardship to a neutral foundation once there are three independent conformant implementations. Contributor conduct follows the Contributor Covenant (see CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md). The project requires no CLA: contributions to specification and documentation text are accepted under CC-BY 4.0, contributions to schemas and code under Apache-2.0, and contributors affirm they have the right to submit their work (see CONTRIBUTING.md). For cross-cutting protocol areas (e.g. time models and robotics), maintainers may convene working groups whose recommendations feed the RFD process.
